The StoryBots Jingle All the Way to the Emmys

Deck the halls! The StoryBots are heading back to the Emmys!

A StoryBots Christmas Nominated for Six Daytime Emmy AwardsIt’s Christmas-in-March today at StoryBots Headquarters as A StoryBots Christmas received an incredible six nominations for the 45th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, including one for Outstanding Special Class Animated Program.

Our very own Santa Claus, Ed Asner, picked up his own nomination for his role in the hit Netflix original special. Asner is an Emmy legend, with the most Primetime Emmy wins for any male performer in history. Way to go, Ed!

Meanwhile, the newly designed StoryBots.com website was also nominated for Outstanding Interactive Media. StoryBots won the same category at last year’s Daytime Emmys for its educational apps, which are used by more than 60,000 educators and are designed to make learning fun for kids ages 3-to-8.

A StoryBots Christmas premiered December 2017 on Netflix and became an instant holiday classic. Common Sense Media gave it a five-star review, calling it a “dynamic and positive special [that] highlights the importance of sharing time with loved ones during the holidays.” The Star Tribune also named it a top TV pick and praised it as a “silly but charming animated special.”

The six nominations for A StoryBots Christmas are:

  • Outstanding Special Class Animated Program
  • Outstanding Interactive Media – Enhancement to a Daytime Program or Series (for StoryBots.com)
  • Outstanding Performer in a Children’s/Preschool Children’s or Educational or Informational Program (for Ed Asner as Santa Claus)
  • Outstanding Writing in a  Preschool Animated Program
  • Outstanding Directing in a Preschool Animated Program
  • Outstanding Sound Editing for a Preschool Animated Program

A StoryBots Christmas is a spin-off of the Netflix Original Series Ask the StoryBots and is based around a cast of curious and colorful characters who live in the world beneath our screens and help answer kids’ biggest questions. In its first season, Ask the StoryBots won an Emmy and received additional accolades from the Peabody Awards, British Academy Children’s Awards and Annie Awards.

The Daytime Emmys are awarded by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). Winners will be announced at ceremonies at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on April 27 and 29. A full list of nominations is available here.
