StoryBots Wins Annie Award for Best Preschool TV Show

Netflix’s Ask the StoryBots was honored by the animation community this weekend when it won the Annie Award for Best Animated Television/Broadcast Production for Preschool Children. Hooray! 🎉🏆

Winners for the 46th Annie Awards were announced at a ceremony on February 2nd at UCLA’s Royce Hall. The Annie Awards recognize the year’s best in animated film and television and are hosted by ASIFA-Hollywood, the Los Angeles branch of the International Animated Film Association.

Ask the StoryBots was also nominated in the category of Best Directing in a Animated Television/Broadcast Production. Producer Sarah Kambara and director and animator Jeff Gill were on hand to accept StoryBots‘ win.

In accepting the award, Kambara praised “every single artist who pours their heart into the show” and noted the responsibility and privilege of creating “content that encourages children to be morally competent and to grow in wholesome wonder.”

Ask the StoryBots Nabs 2 Annie Award Nominations

The animation community recognized the latest season of Netflix’s Ask the StoryBots today with two Annie Awards nominations, including for Best Animated Television/Broadcast Production for Preschool Children.

Ask the StoryBots was previously nominated in the same category in 2017 for its first season. Now in its 46th year, the Annie Awards are hosted by ASIFA-Hollywood, the Los Angeles branch of the International Animated Film Association, and recognize the best in animated film and television.

Now streaming its second season on Netflix, Ask the StoryBots was also nominated for Directing in a Animated Television/Broadcast Production. Director Evan Spiridellis (who is also the show’s co-creator and co-executive producer, as well as the voice of Hap, among other roles!) was recognized in this category for his work on the “What Is Electricity?” episode.

Animator Siqi Song, who worked on season two of Ask the StoryBots, was also nominated for Best Student Film for her film Sister. Congrats to Evan and Siqi!
